CampgroundLoves Travel Stop
CampgroundOur first ever RV stop was at this Loves Travel Stop outside of Baton Rouge. We were a bit nervous about where to stay, but this ended up being a great option for a one night layover on our way to New Orleans. The site was a decent size, with plenty of room for our rig and poodle to stretch out. It was also relatively quiet and safe, which made us feel comfortable on our first night out.
French Quarter RV Resort
CampgroundWe were initially hesitant to book this park with New Orleans being our first major city since setting out on our RV adventure. The Louisiana roads were brutal but we arrived safely to an easily accessible, well maintained, secure campground that is just a few minutes walk from Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. It was a bit noisy at night due to the fire station right down the street, but the location was great and any anxiety we had about safety was long gone by the second day. Overall, I really enjoyed our time in NOLA and would definitely stay here again.

CampgroundFort Wilderness Campground at Disney World is such a unique experience! The RV sites are a bit snug. We definitely had to play Tetris a few times to get settled, but the atmosphere is incredible. Seeing deer, turkeys, and other wildlife alongside the Disney theming makes it totally worth it.

Point of InterestWe weren't really sure what to expect from Gatorland but we had a great time! After buying tickets (WAY cheaper than disney BTW) and walking through the gate, we saw a massive number of huge aligators swimming around in a pit below. The half day experience had us wind through several different exhibits. We got to feed the gators, and I even got my picture taken holding a live one. A really cool experience for someone from a place with no gators.

State ParkThe Hemingway Home and Museum
Point of InterestThe Hemingway house and its many cats was our first stop on our visit to Key West during our stay at Sunshine Key. There was no line when we arrived in the morning, so we stepped right inside to see a beautiful colonial-florida style house. The main event for us was the 30+ cats, all descendants of Hemingway's pets. We spent about an hour watching the cats and learning about Hemingway's life in the Florida Keys. I would also highly recommend the Key West Lighthouse, it's basically across the street.

RestaurantI stumbled upon La Sandwicherie on Miami Beach about 10 years ago and it instantly became one of my favorite sandwich spots anywhere. I couldn't wait to take my wife! Located right off the beach, this casual spot serves up incredibly fresh sandwiches at a great price. I'm obsessed with their vinaigrette, and after a decade since my last visit, it still holds up. The location is also perfect for a beach day lunch or an evening stroll down south beach like we did.

State ParkWe spent a peaceful afternoon exploring the Bulow Plantation Ruins—so cool to wander through the old structures! It’s a really lovely spot for a quiet stroll and the scenery is gorgeous. Being right next to the RV park made it super easy to pop over for a visit.

RestaurantWe stopped into Poe's Tavern late in the afternoon after exploring downtown Savannah for several hours. The Edgar Allan Poe themed bar caught our eye so we decided to pop in for some cocktails while we rested our feet. The bar was quiet and the drinks were good and not too expensive. They also had a really nice outdoor seating area for the days when the weather cooperates. Check it out if you're in the area!
Bonaventure Cemetery

National ParkThis national monument was a quick stop on our way back from Tybee Island. The fort itself was really cool and we enjoyed learning about its history. I could see the Tybee Lighthouse from the top of the fort. We didn't have time to do much else, but it was a cool stop and the admission was free with our park pass.
Carolina Shores RV Resort
CampgroundWe scored an amazing beachfront site at Carolina Shores RV Resort, complete with a gazebo and metal roof over the picnic table. It was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the ocean views. Our poodle loved exploring the beach with us, and we spent hours combing the shoreline for shells. The resort had a relaxed vibe, and we enjoyed being able to access the beach right from our site. I could even see the ocean from my desk while I was working during the day.
Conch Cafe
RestaurantConch Cafe was recommended by a friend and turned out to be our favorite meal during our time in Myrtle Beach. We went for a late lunch and ate outside on the covered patio overlooking the beach and crashing waves while we enjoyed a feast of fresh seafood from Murrells Inlet. I am a sucker for a good crab cake and theirs doesn't disappoint.
Huntington Beach State Park
State ParkWe spent a lovely afternoon exploring Huntington Beach State Park! The trails were great for a stroll, and we got some seriously awesome views of the marsh and coastline. Keep an eye out for alligators – we saw tons! Plus, don't skip the Atalaya castle and a scoop (or two!) of spoonbill's ice cream.
Johnny D's Waffles and Benedicts, Surfside Beach
RestaurantSeriously, you HAVE to check out Johnny D’s if you're ever near Surfside Beach. The waffles and benedicts were amazing, and it's so nice to find a relaxed, friendly diner while traveling. Plus, they’re an autism-friendly space, which we really appreciated—it made the whole experience extra welcoming.

Brookgreen Gardens
Point of InterestWe absolutely loved wandering around Brookgreen Gardens! The sheer size of the place is incredible – so much to see with the sculptures and the small zoo. It was a really relaxing afternoon, and super convenient being right across from Huntington Beach State Park where we visited the day before.

Twin Lakes Campground
CampgroundTwin Lakes Campground was a decent overnight stop for us on our way through North Carolina. The staff were super friendly—a golf cart even came to help us navigate some construction blocking our site, though a heads-up about that would have been appreciated! Overall, it was a convenient spot with reliable hookups and a relaxed vibe, perfect for a quick recharge.

Thousand Trails Harbor View
CampgroundThis Thousand Trails location is a great spot to relax and unwind, with super dark skies at night and quiet surroundings. The friendly staff helped us find our site, which had full hookups. It is conveniently located near Washington DC, making it easy to take a day trip to explore the museums and more (Just be ready to pay for parking!). One important note is that the roads out there were VERY steep at times. Be sure your rig is properly equipped.

Orchid Thai Cuisine - Colonial Beach
RestaurantThis great little spot in Colonial Beach served up some delicious eats, especially the crab rangoons. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making our experience even more enjoyable. If you're passing through this quiet coastal town, Orchid Thai Cuisine is definitely worth a stop for a tasty and satisfying meal. Pro tip: The parking lot next to the museum across the street is the only free parking in town if you're there in-season.

United States Botanic Garden
Point of InterestThe United States Botanic Garden was a lovely oasis in the middle of Washington DC. We spent about 45 minutes here. The garden features a variety of beautiful plants from around the United States and world, with different rooms and sections simulating different climates and ecosystems. It's a great place to relax and unwind, and we enjoyed strolling through the peaceful gardens on a warm day.

Fredericksburg
Point of InterestWe made a quick stop in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and were charmed by its historic district. The town has a lovely small-town feel, with plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. We also visited Chatham Manor, a beautiful historic home with stunning views. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

National Mall
Point of InterestThe National Mall was honestly a bit of a nightmare to navigate with our large truck, but after finally finding a decent parking spot, we spent the day soaking up the history and sights. We hit up a few of the many museums, grabbed some great food, and caught the sunset over the Capitol.

Waynesboro North 340 Campground
CampgroundWe stayed at Waynesboro North 340 Campground on Memorial Day weekend because we couldn't get a reservation at the Thousand Trails location in the area. It ended up being a great choice. The campground is nestled in a beautiful wooded area with views of the mountains in the distance. The kids in the campground loved the train that runs through, and we appreciated the full hookups and easy accessibility. It was a great base for exploring the Shenandoah area.

Luray Caverns
Point of InterestThe Luray Caverns were a really cool cave with massive stalactites and stalagmites that we loved exploring. There was also a small car museum and a hedge maze, which added to the fun. We spent a few hours walking through the caves and taking in the beauty. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm
CampgroundThe rural scenery surrounding Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm is gorgeous, with rolling hills and fields stretching as far as the eye can see. We loved that the campground had a petting zoo on site, complete with horses, donkeys, alpacas, rabbits, and chickens. The drive in is VERY hilly so make sure your brakes are in good condition!

Hershey RV and Camping Resort
CampgroundWe really enjoyed our stay at Hershey RV and Camping Resort during our time in PA, especially since it was so close to Hershey attractions. It was pretty quiet during the week, but on the weekends it came alive with live music and food trucks, which was a fun surprise. The campground was loaded with geese, which we enjoyed watching wander around. There were also great fishing and hiking areas in the campground.

Hershey Gardens
Point of InterestWe loved strolling through the scenic flower gardens, which were even more gorgeous than we expected. But the real showstopper was the butterfly habitat. Stepping inside felt like entering a tropical paradise, with butterflies fluttering all around us.

Liberty Harbor RV Park
CampgroundWe were really nervous about navigating our RV through the busy streets of Jersey City to get to Liberty Harbor RV Park, but it was totally worth it. The park itself was clean, with friendly staff and security, and super convenient for our NYC trip. The sites were a bit tight, but we made it work, and being just a 15-minute walk from the train station made it easy to leave our RV behind and explore the city.

Thousand Trails Rondout Valley
CampgroundThis Thousand Trails location was a nice surprise after a long drive from Philly. We stayed in a wooded site with full hookups, which made for a comfortable few days. The pool was huge and clean, and there were plenty of activities to keep us entertained — from hiking trails to a nearby lake. We didn't get a chance to try the on-site amenities like the fitness center or game room, but they looked great.

Alpine Lake Campground
CampgroundWe had a great experience at Alpine Lake Campground, even with a few bumps along the way - I broke my phone and had to get it replaced, but the friendly staff helped me get it sorted. We snagged a site right on "Goose Bay", a charming little pond with a fountain that's a hotspot for geese and ducks. Although the site was a bit of a tight squeeze with a tree, the peaceful vibes made it well worth it.

Camping On The Battenkill
CampgroundThis heavily wooded campground in southern Vermont is situated right along the Battenkill River, which runs through the property and provided a soothing background noise during our stay. We loved the peaceful vibe and natural beauty of the surroundings. The Vermont countryside did not disappoint!

Sandy Beach Campground
CampgroundWe were so glad we decided to spend the 250th 4th of July at Sandy Beach Campground. This Thousand Trails campground had everything we were looking for: friendly staff, a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and beautiful natural surroundings. Our site was spacious and well-maintained, with easy access to the lake and plenty of amenities. We spent the weeks relaxing and enjoying the scenery, feeling grateful to have found such a lovely spot to celebrate.

Historic Squam River Covered Bridge
Point of InterestThe Historic Squam River Covered Bridge was a quick stop on our way to get some lunch in the area. The bridge itself was beautiful and it was even more lovely with the scenic view of Squam Lake right behind it. We didn't spend too much time here but it was a nice break from driving and a great photo op.

Point of InterestWe ducked into Keene on a rainy afternoon and were charmed by this quaint little New England town. Despite the rain, we enjoyed wandering the streets, popping into shops, and soaking up the town's laid-back atmosphere; the rain actually added to the cozy feel.
